Trees: Apply at about 1 lb. per 100 sq. ft. for each inch of the trunks diameter, in the root zone of trees and shrubs, and mix into the top 4 to 6 inches of soil or as deeply as possible without disturbing roots. Trees may also be fertilized by drilling 1 inch holes at 18 inch intervals within the dripline (area directly under) the tree. Pour 1 tablespoon of 17-5-10 in each hole. This need only be done once each year in the Spring before growth starts, or after leaves drop in the Fall.
